Connecting to a FTP server

When CORE FTP has been installed on you computer, open CORE FTP and the
CORE FTP Site Manager will open allowing you to connect to the remote host,
ftp.file-central.com

In order to connect to a FTP server, we will first set up a site in the Site Manager.
You can also open the Site Manager, by clicking on the button on the top left hand of the screen or the button on the right side of the main window.

Site Manager

Once you have started up the site manager, the first thing you want to do is click on the "new site" button. This will set up a new site profile that we will use to connect to a FTP server.

The most critical pieces of information that are needed to connect to a server are:

1: Host: ftp.file-central.com
2: Username: name@file-central.com
3: Password: yourpassword

No other information is needed to connect to ftp.File-Central.com
This information will be provided by File-Central.com.

The only additional information your ISP may provide is an alternative port. In most cases the port will always be 21 for standard FTP.

The log shows the progress of the connection being established.
Remember that if you are using a dialup account, you need to already be
connected to the internet. If the connection is made, the connection dialog
will disappear and you should be returned to the main Core FTP screen.

Upon successful connection, you will see the your computers files listed on the
left and the File-Central will be open on the right

The next step is to transferring files:  Transferring Files>
